The "Wings" chair is a distinctive piece of furniture that merges form and function in a harmonious blend. The design is characterized by its bionic modelling, which takes inspiration from the wings of a butterfly. The chair's structure mimics the way a butterfly rests with its wings spread out, and the open seat surface on both sides is reminiscent of a butterfly preparing to take flight. This creative interpretation of natural forms brings a sense of life and vitality to an otherwise inanimate object.
What sets the "Wings" chair apart from other leisure chairs is its innovative use of materials and technology. The chair is crafted from blue translucent plastic using 3D printing technology. The back of the chair is seamlessly connected to the middle part of the seat surface, providing a comfortable and enveloping seating experience. The double-decker leg design not only adds to the chair's aesthetic appeal but also enhances its support and stability.
The "Wings" chair is not just a piece of furniture, but also a work of art. The outer surface of the chair features a striated concave-convex texture that mimics the intricate patterns found on butterfly wings. This design element not only enhances the chair's visual appeal but also increases the friction of the seat, ensuring a secure and comfortable seating experience. The chair's dimensions are 655mm x 710mm x 785mm, making it a versatile addition to any living space.
The design process for the "Wings" chair was a meticulous one, starting in Shenyang in March 2021 and concluding in June 2021. The design team faced the challenge of combining the solid structure of a chair with the fluidity and vitality of a butterfly. The result is a chair that not only provides a comfortable seating experience but also adds a touch of whimsy and vitality to any interior space.
The "Wings" chair is a testament to the power of design to transform everyday objects into works of art. It is a reminder that inspiration can come from the most unexpected places, and that the beauty of nature can be harnessed to create functional and aesthetically pleasing products.
